Fwd: Canada's business and tax environment
Desiree: Thought you might enjoy this - being that you are the direct cause of me being in Canada;). Aside from the nice weather and the palm trees, I'm hard pressed to come up with many reasons to return to the US. And I'm now able to come and go as I want anyway, anyway. If I didn't despise you so much, I might be inclined to feel like I owe you one. Fox ---------- Forwarded message ----------On Mar 22, 2014 12:09 PM, Fox <fox@desireecapuano.org>So, I've been looking into it and I've discovered that Canada actually has a more business friendly environment now than the US! And they have a federal tax incentive for "research and development" investment that will reimburse the company for 30% of all money spent on research and development - including "computer programming". That means, if I incorporate a business here, not only can I write off all computer expenses - the government will actually reimburse me for up to 30% of them. And the corporate tax rate here is 15%, compared to 30% in the US! What!?! So it turns out, in Canada, its the uninformed middle class (which is probably 95% of the middle class) that pays all the huge taxes to support the silly social programs. Just like in the US, but much more extreme. And, I'm allowed to own firearms (just can't carry them on me). Aside from the crappy winter weather and the annoying left-wing people, its looking pretty attractive. For a little while, anyway. Fox
