Gabriel's comforter
Desiree: Will you also be able to take Gabriel to a Bed, Bath and Beyond, or a Macy's (or some comparable retailer) to get a duvet cover for his comforter? If not, please let me know so I can order him one. Fox

Of course I can, not a problem - but he's not using it currently as it's too warm here...do you still want the cover if it's just folded up in the closet? Would it be better to wait until it's actually being used?

Yes, because if the current one is too warm then I'll get him a lighter one.

Sorry, just so I understand - yes, you would like me to wait or yes, you want me to get the cover now?

I would like Gabriel to get a duvet cover at the earliest opportunity, to protect the comforter from possible damage and to keep it clean. Regardless of whether it is being used. I will send the plastic bag that it came in so that if I get him another then the current one can be stored in the original package.

Ok. I can take care of that. Do you want him to put it on the credit card or debit card?

Credit card. The debit card is his own personal money.

Ok. There is a JC Penny outlet store just a couple blocks away. I'll check there first.

If you don't mind so much, could you skip JC Penny? I'm kinda anti-JCPenny.

I just looked at JCPenney's web site. I guess they're fine. I thought JCPenney was a discount store. Never been to one.

No, it's not a discount store. It's along the same lines as a Macy's. I know what you prefer :-). I'll look there and see what they have, if they don't have anything good I'll go to the mall.

But you'll let Gabriel choose the one he wants, right?

Re: Gabriel's comforter
I just ordered him a couple sets of satin sheets - one black and one white. So he won't have to worry about coordinating the colors.

Of course, he will get to chose. Satin sheets? Really? You reevaluate he's only 13 right? And they slide and slip, are hard to keep on the bed...you sure satin over cotton?

Meant realize - not reevaluate...autocorrect sucks.

Yeah, satin's fine. I've been using them for many years and have them on my bed right now. I don't have a problem with them sliding off - I think that's something of a misconception. If you tuck the end under the mattress (which you would do with ANY type of sheets when you make the bed) then they should stay put. Also, the duvet helps them to stay in place. Maybe there are other, lower quality brands that tend to slip, but the ones I ordered him are the same brand I'm using. But as for comfort: you can't beat them. I'm not sure what his age has to do with the weave of the fabric of his sheets. Please elaborate. Gabriel explicitly said he wanted satin sheets. White, to be exact. Fox

Ok - that's fine, I don't really care. The only time I've ever used satin sheets was when we were together, the black ones, and they were a pain in the ass - but I was pregnant at the time so maybe that's why. His age doesn't dictate the type of thread used, just seems strange to me for a kid to have satin sheets...that's all. Fine Egyptian cotton with a high thread count is damn near as soft but a little easier to maintain and way more breathable. Just my thinking. Anyway, its what he wants so there it is.

I agree that a high thread count, Egyptian cotton is nice and, arguably anyway, easier to maintain. But not quite as comfortable to sleep on when combined with a quality down comforter. When Gabriel's sheets arrive on Thursday (and after they've been washed to remove the starch, and dried with some Bounce sheets), make his bed; put the comforter on it such that the sheet and the comforter reach the head of the bed, then fold the head-end of the sheet/comforter over so they line up with the pillow (and are doubled). Now climb in (preferably with the least amount clothing - covered skin doesn't come in contact with the satin, which defeats the purpose). Tell me that's not like sleeping on a cloud.

And besides, they're currently on sale/clearance, at Amazon, for $17 (normally $69). At that price I'm not going to lose any sleep if they slip off Gabriel while he...uh, sleeps:). Though he might lose some sleep over it...HA! There was really no way to word that without the pun.

Hahah!! Good pun :-). I do remember when we had the sheets - no question it was like sleeping on a cloud...and honestly, at that price I can't blame you :-)
