Schedule for ex parte hearing
Desiree: Please let me know what would be convenient for you to attend an ex parte hearing regarding my request to bring Gabriel to Canada. This week will probably not be good for the Court due to the holiday so I'm thinking Monday, November 26, 2012. If I don't receive a response from you then I'll assume that time is acceptable and I'll consider this the notice I'm required to provide at least 24 hours prior to the hearing (in other words, I'm providing you 8 days notice). I'll also leave you a voice message to the same effect. I'll forward you a copy of the forms and my declaration within the next couple of days. Fox

I will not be able to attend Monday the 26th. Please chose a date further out to allow time to make arrangements. I will either need to set up a court call appearance or travel once again out of state. Neither option is available until I get paid next.

I'm sorry, but as you see from the offer letter they would like me to start on the 26th. So I don't think I can push it back much more than that - I was thinking maybe a day or two, if necessary. Fox

Well, it's all about you. Do whatever...I'll live.

Desiree: No. It's all about Gabriel. And me starting a job, making $90,000 a year is in Gabriel's best interest. It is also in YOUR best interest as it will lower your child support obligation to about $150/months (plus back payments for the $8,000 you'll be in arrears come January). Can you elaborate on how you figure this is all about me? It would seem, if anything, it's all about you. Because, you're the one suggesting I should wait some indefinite amount of time for the hearing, thereby losing the job offer and causing Gabriel to continue to go without because it was not convenient for you. Am I wrong on that? Fox

For the sake of completeness can you provide a counter proposal for the date for the hearing? All you said was that you wouldn't be able to appear until after your next paycheck (even though appearing by phone wouldn't incur any cost). Thank you, Fox

Court call appearances cost $85 each time Fox. Not that you would know that. And if you we're a citizen of this country as you are alleging to be, then there's no reason you should have to leave the country to find a job. You live in one of the 2 biggest cities in the US and you're looking for employment in Canada. Sounds fishy to me. But what do I know.

Good points. I shall address each in turn:True, I was not aware of that. But, for someone making $60,000 and no longer having to support her fiancee that doesn't seem like all that much.Court call appearances cost $85 each time Fox. Not that you would know that.On the contrary. I believe one of the reasons I have been having difficulty is because when the companies run a background check they are finding the problems I had in Arizona. The same thing just happened with the company in Cerritos. The Canadian companies are running background checks in Canada (if at all) so nothing questionable is coming up.And if you we're a citizen of this country as you are alleging to be, then there's no reason you should have to leave the country to find a job.The current unemployment rate in Los Angeles is 11.2%, which is quite high. The unemployment rate for the country as a whole was about 7.9%. I have been getting many inquiries about availability for positions in Silicon Valley, Illinois, and New York but I don't know anyone in those areas so I would have to stay in a hotel and unfortunately, I don't have the financial resources to cover such initial costs. At the same time, the unemployment rate in Canada is currently 8.6%. But, because Canada is a much more left wing country their 8.6% is roughly equivalent to about 6% in the US. Also, I have friends and/or associates in both Vancouver and Toronto, who would be willing to assist me while I get settled. The only places I have friends and/or associates here in the US are Phoenix, Colorado Springs, Louisiana, Tampa, Miami, San Antonio, Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario and Los Angeles. But none of those places are hotbeds of development jobs right now. Per capita, there are more development jobs in Phoenix right now than in LA. I suppose if you're willing to let me stay at your place until I start receiving paychecks then I could look at Phoenix positions (but I assumed that would not be an option so I didn't propose it). As for the other people I know in Phoenix, I never kept in touch with them when I was arrested. You live in one of the 2 biggest cities in the US and you're looking for employment in Canada.I believe that the above explanations should alleviate any fishy aroma that you might be encountering. If not, then I would suggest that maybe the odor is coming from somewhere else.Sounds fishy to me.Do you really want me to answer that? If you would like to infer anything else, feel free. I'm sure I will have perfectly reasonable explanations for those as well. Most sincerely, FoxBut what do I know.

Desiree: By the way, you've still not provided a date that would be convenient for you to attend a hearing regarding bringing Gabriel to Canada. Fox
