Deductible for Gabriel's coverage
Desiree: It has occurred to me that $500 of the $722 was the deductible, which, over the course of the year would likely have been used up anyway (through multiple, regular trips to the doctor). And now that the deductible limit has been reached there will not be any deductible to pay on future visits. In other words, $500 of the cost of the emergency room visit would have occurred over the course of the year, regardless. And once the $500 was reached there would be no further deductibles beyond that amount, so at the end of the year the cost of Gabriel's medical care will be the same, either way. Had I taken him to a walk-in clinic, as you had suggested, and had it only cost $50 then the balance of the deductible would have been decreased to $450 and we would have had to pay the $50. Then there would still be an outstanding deductible which would be applied to the next doctor visit. Do you see my point? I'm also having trouble finding Urgent Care facilities that only charge $50. Mostly, I'm being quoted in the area of $100 for a visit. And, all of the one's that I've found in South Bay close at either 8pm or 9pm. That wouldn't have helped much since Gabriel's fever started to spike around 8:30pm. Fox
